Points To Consider

HIRE FEES depend on the circumstances and the number of musicians required.

Circumstances to be considered:

The travelling time & distance to venue, whether accommodation is required, whether the event is open to the public, whether there is an admission charge and at what cost, whether a percentage of the admission 'gate' is included as part payment, whether the event coincides with public holidays or a special time of year (e.g. Christmas), the get-in time, start time and duration required, whether hospitality is provided, and any other relevant factors to be taken into account.

An example for a rough guide - Background music (up to two x 45-minute sets with a 15 minute break) for a small corporate function held locally might incur a fee in the region of £150 per musician.

Fees for lounge or restaurant gigs will be less than for functions.

The above is only a rough guide and every gig scenario is negotiable.

The fee, arranged by written agreement, would be invoiced in advance and paid in full on the day.

On-site (private) car parking would be advantageous.

Other considerations:.

You would need to have sufficient floor area to accommodate the number of musicians required along with their accessories e.g. music-stands, seats, amplification with or without PA & microphones. You would also need to provide a safe mains electricity supply on the band-stand. Lighting also needs to be considered.

Outdoor events would only be considered between May and September in good weather but only under water-tight cover with proper staging or other safe flooring and electrical supply.

Heat & lighting may also be required. Earth & water are electrical conductors!

Health & Safety issues always need to be considered and especially so for outdoor events where there are the additional hazards of wind, rain, and cold. Once a band-stand is set-up it cannot easily or quickly be dismantled or moved if it rained for instance - speakers & amplifiers may be heavy and would be linked by cables to the electrical mains power source and other apparatus.

Quality instruments (and musicians) also need to be protected from the elements.

If you would like more information without any initial obligation, then please contact Bill Mann, by email in the first instance, giving some basic details i.e. the nature of the booking, the date, location, parking facilities. We would then contact you to let you know about availability and the proposed cost.

Plan ahead - Please make your enquiry about live music (private functions) between one and six months in advance of your event taking place. It takes time (especially in holiday periods) to find out which musicians are available, organise rehearsals for specific combinations around other busy work commitments, negotiate fees, send and receive paperwork by post and so on.

We are Musicians with diverse workloads and NOT an Agency and so...
